Initial idea and consortium creation
Step 1 of 6
The Concept Note
Goal: Write a short, preliminary concept note that you can use to gauge the interest of potential partners and stakeholders.
When you come up with a project idea, or identify a funding call you find interesting, the first thing to do is to write a preliminary Concept Note. It serves as a brief outline of the project that you can use to present your proposed concept to potential partners and stakeholders and gauge their interest.
The note should be specific enough for partners to understand what the project is about and whether they wish to engage with it. It should not be too detailed, as this leaves your future partners no room to add their knowledge and reflections. The goal is to gauge partners' interest, engage them early and co-create an impactful project.
As a minimum, the concept note should contain:
- Project title
- Project objectives
- Background and context
- Expected outcomes and impact
- A very preliminary budget
